A lot of my clients have mentioned to me that it took them a while to make the decision to seek professional help because they were afraid “others might think I’m crazy”, Or “Others won’t understand”. It’s really hard to know what someone who has an invisible illness is going through, specially if we don’t understand it. Just because we don’t see it, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Telling someone who is having a panic attack to just relax would be like telling someone with high blood pressure to just lower it.

If you are someone who has an invisible illness I would like you to know that I understand what you are going through and not because some might not understand or judge what you are going through, it doesn’t mean you are weak or crazy. When I see clients I make sure I:

Provide a safe and comfortable environment during our sessions
Adopt a non-judgmental approach and unconditional positive regard towards the client
Help my clients feel they can trust me so they can relax and feel at ease
Make use of deep listening skills and understanding
Help clients feel proud that they made the decision to change
Empower and educate clients so they can continue to improve with every session and thereafter
These are just some of the things that I like to do because I feel that it’s a great responsibility as much it is an honor to help and support someone on their journey towards healing and transformation.
